Svarte fuglar

Svarte fuglar kvesser sine klør
Klemmer til rundt hjartet mitt
Riv og slit
Om att og om att

Svarte fuglar svevar over hovudet mitt
Ventar på eit feilsteg
Ein fot utanfor stien
Som alt er merka opp

Svarte fuglar hakkar og bit
Når eg ikkje strekk til
Kvar gong eg snublar og dett
Er dei over meg
med rovdyrblikka sine

Svarte fuglar sit i skjul
Dei ventar og veit
Veit eg vil gjere feil
Veit eg vil trå skeivt
Veit at dei endå ein gong

(Matt 11, 28-30)

  1. Ole, thank you sooo much for translating this for me! It means a lot that you took the time. The idea of bad thoughts being like black birds, always there and always waiting, is very similar to how I feel. There may be moments that they aren't actively hurting you...but you know they are still there, just waiting to swoop down at just the right moment when it will cause the most damage. I am going to try thinking of them as my black birds, I love what you said about how birds can be shot. And the fact that I hate birds to begin with makes this a good metaphor for me! :) Thank you (again) for taking the time to translate, comment and be used by the Lord in my life.
